Country Living

A little about grandmas...

Grandma lives in Pagosa Springs, CO and she lives atop (really at the very top) of one of the mountains there.  They don't have electricity or water like we are use to.  There are no power lines up the mountain and their water is brought up.  The electric items they do use are run off of solar power and generators and they have to haul their water up in tanks and drain it into sisterns.  They also have a composting toilet.  It is nasty, but you really do not smell it when someone poops, unlike our toilets.  It is country living at it's best!  They are also trying to build a house so right now they live in a make-shift home.  It is a bit small, so with 3 extra people there they brought in a pop-up trailer for us to stay in.  It was nice and I enjoyed staying in there.  It felt like we were camping.  They have a cute little barn that they built and tons of plants that mom takes lots of pride in.  It is a beautiful place, but takes adjusting to get use to.  We really enjoyed being there!
